UConn NSBE
Empowering Future Black Engineers.

The University of Connecticut chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a student-led, non-profit organization dedicated to creating pathways for underrepresented students in engineering and science.

Our Mission.

At UConn NSBE, our purpose goes beyond academics—we’re here to inspire, support, and empower the next generation of Black engineers.

We aim “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.”

Our Community.

UConn NSBE is more than an organization—it’s a family. Our community brings together students, alumni, and professionals who share a passion for engineering, innovation, and service.

Through mentorship, networking, and cultural pride, our chapter celebrates diversity and builds lifelong bonds. Together, we uplift one another while working to make a lasting impact on campus and in the wider community.

Our Academics.

At UConn NSBE, academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. We provide resources, study sessions, and peer mentorship to help our members succeed in challenging STEM courses.

From tutoring and exam prep to workshops on time management and research opportunities, our chapter is committed to ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive.

Our Events.

UConn NSBE hosts a variety of events designed to support academic growth, professional development, and community building. From career prep workshops and networking mixers to service projects and social gatherings, there’s always something happening.

Our General Body Meetings (GBMs) are held every week from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM in McHugh 306. These meetings allow members to come together to share updates, learn, and connect.
